The 2019 Annual Meeting will be held at the University of Richmond Downtown April 4-5, 2019. The event will kick off with the plenary session on Thursday afternoon and will finish by Friday at noon.
The 2019 Sandridge Lecturer is Thomas Barkin, President and Chief Executive Officer of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond.
Lecture Title: A Practitioner’s Perspective on the Productivity Slowdown
Tom Barkin is the president and chief executive officer of the Richmond Fed. He joined the Richmond Fed in January 2018.
In this role, he is responsible for the Bank’s monetary policy, bank supervision and regulation, and payment services as well as oversight of the Federal Reserve System’s information technology organization. Barkin served as a voting member in 2018 on the Federal Reserve’s chief monetary policy body, the Federal Open Market Committee.
Prior to joining the Richmond Fed, Barkin was a senior partner and chief financial officer at McKinsey & Company, a worldwide management consulting firm. Barkin oversaw McKinsey’s offices in the southern United States and provided strategic counsel to a diverse portfolio of clients. Barkin also served on the board of directors for the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta from 2009 to 2014 and was the board’s chairman from 2013 to 2014.
Barkin is a member of the Emory University Board of Trustees and the Greater Washington Partnership.
Barkin earned his bachelor’s, master’s and law degrees from Harvard University.

If you would like to submit a paper to be considered in the 2019 program, please fill out the form found here by February 1st, 2019. All accepted papers will be considered for the Best Paper Award, which will be awarded after the April meeting. We are also planning both a student presentation session and a student poster session.
The costs are $70 for the conference and $40 for the banquet ($110 for both), but if you pay via our PayPal account before the conference you will receive a $10 discount on the conference fee. After filling out the registration form you will receive a PayPal invoice within a few days. A link is provided in the invoice for you to make payment and receive the discount.
